Vision & Mission

What we are called to be

Our vision, and the seven commitments that shape how we live it out. Every one of them is rooted in Scripture.

Our Vision

To build a church that glorifies Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit and preaches the Good News in Plano and beyond.

Our mission

Seven commitments

Each of these is drawn straight from Scripture. The references are there so you can read them for yourself.

  1. To be established in Unity in the bond of love

That we would be one, held together by the love God has given us for one another.

    Scripture: Jn. 17:26; Jn. 13:34,35; Eph. 4:1-32

  2. A House of Prayer for all nations

A church where every nation, tribe and language is welcome to come and pray.

    Scripture: Mk. 11:17; Is. 56:7; Rev. 5:9

  3. The church of the Living God; the pillar and foundation of truth

Holding fast to the truth of God’s Word, and letting that truth set people free.

    Scripture: 1 Tim. 3:15; Jn. 14:6; Jn. 8:31,32

  4. Manifestation of Jesus’ ministry in the church, that He may be glorified

That the works Jesus did would continue among us, so that He receives the glory.

    Scripture: Jn. 14:12,13; Col. 1:27; Is. 61:1-3

  5. A Great Commission Church

Sent out to make disciples of all nations, as Jesus sent His first followers.

    Scripture: Mat. 28:18-20; Mk. 16:15-18; Lk. 24:44-49; Jn. 17:18

  6. A Holy Spirit filled, anointed church

A people who depend on the Holy Spirit, and expect Him to lead and empower us.

    Scripture: Eph. 2:22; Jn. 14:17; Jn. 16:13

  7. A holy, radiant, more than conquering church in Jesus Christ

Growing into the church Christ is preparing for Himself — and more than conquerors through Him.

    Scripture: Eph. 5:27; 1 Pet. 2:9; Rm. 8:35-37

Baptisms

The fifth commitment above is not an idea we hold. It is something that happens in water, one person at a time.

A woman being baptized in a river, held steady by two others in white robes as she comes up out of the water
A boy being baptized in an outdoor pool, one church leader resting a hand on his head while another stands alongside in a white robe
Four people in white baptismal robes standing waist-deep in an outdoor pool, one of them raising a hand in prayer

And beyond

The vision above ends in three words that are easy to read straight past: “and beyond.” Pastor Chen has carried it a long way past Plano. He has preached through a translator to congregations that fill arenas.

A conference auditorium with Pastor Daniel S. Chen preaching on the large screens beside a translator, rows of national flags lining the stage behind him
The congregation standing and responding during a conference, many with hands raised, seen from the side of the stage
A wide view of a packed arena, hundreds standing with hands raised and coloured flags held up above the crowd
